Marcello Lippi (born April 11, 1948 in Viareggio) is an Italian football coach, currently the head coach of the Italian national team.
In a playing career that started in 1969, Lippi played for Savona, Sampdoria, and Pistoiese. He became a coach in 1982 with the Sampdoria youth teams, and, after various stints in Italy's lower divisions, became a head coach in Serie A in 1989 with A.C. Cesena. Lippi then moved on to Lucchese, Atalanta, and SSC Napoli.
In 1994, Lippi took over Juventus F.C. and led them to three scudetti, one Coppa Italia, four Italian SuperCups, one Champions League, one European Super Cup, and one Intercontinental Cup.He coached Internazionale between 1999 and 2001. He was again appointed as coach of Juventus and managed to win 2 Scudetto and also lead them the finals of UEFA Champions League in 2003 held at Old Trafford. Juventus lost to A.C. Milan in penalties after both the teams failing to score during the normal time and extra time
Since July 16, 2004, Lippi is the coach of Italian national team, and managed to qualify Italy for the World Cup 2006.
Alessandro Del Piero (born November 9, 1974 in Conegliano) is an Italian football player. He usually plays as a support-striker and occasionally between the midfield and the strikers (in the hole), known in Italy as the "Trequartista" position. He is not the tallest of forwards, but is certainly one of the most creative forwards in the world, rather than being a "goal poacher". Del Piero is renowned for his deadly finishing, and the ease in which he dribbles past defenders. A creator as well as a scorer of goals - not least from free kicks - Francesco Totti can operate from a variety of attacking positions but it is in the free role behind the strikers that his skill and technique are best showcased. He is widely regarded as one of the finest players in the modern game.
Luca Toni (born May 26, 1977 in Pavullo nel Frignano, Modena) is an Italian football player. He plays as a striker for ACF Fiorentina and the Italian national team.
He started his professional career at Modena in 1994.
After a good Serie B season with Treviso in 1999, he moved to Vicenza Calcio, playing in Serie A for the first time. He then moved to Brescia Calcio and played for two seasons alonside Roberto Baggio.
He joined Palermo in 2003 and helped the team to win Serie B by scoring thirty goals during the season, consequently gaining his first cap for the national team. In the following season he scored twenty goals.
In July 2005, he was transferred by Palermo owner, Maurizio Zamparini, to Fiorentina for €10m.
Filippo "Pippo" Inzaghi (born August 9, 1973, in Piacenza, Italy) is a professional footballer who plays as a centre forward. He is the brother of Simone Inzaghi, who is also a professional footballer. He has played for several clubs in Italy, currently playing for Italian Serie A giants AC Milan, and has previously been selected to play on the Italian national team in various international matches and tournaments, including the World Cup in 1998 and 2002.
Fabio Cannavaro (born September 13, 1973, Naples) is an Italian football player, as of 2005 the captain of the Italian national team.
Although not being tall for a central defender (176 cm), Cannavaro is considered one of the best defenders of the 1990s and early 2000s. As for his career in the Italian championship, he played Napoli (1992-95), Parma (1995-2002), Inter Milan (2002-04) and Juventus (2004-current).
